My Golden Nugget Advice

Listen to your kids and be present for them, even when you're disciplining them. In the midst of correcting any bad behavior, also let them know that what they think and how they feel is important, but that there are better ways than "acting up" to achieve their goals. Then give examples of those better ways. This is much more effective than just always laying down the law and saying "you're wrong" and that's it.
