Transcription:
The best way to transition your child from elementary to middle school is to recognize as a parent that in your child's school career there are two big emotional leaps and that will be kindergarten and middle school. It's not going to high school and it's not going to college. Middle school is a tremendous leap for you as a family, so the best way to prepare is to visit the school. If there are lockers, surprisingly enough, locker phobia is very common and if there are locks that go on the lockers have them at home and practice. Get as much of the visual map of the school as you can explaining the change in classes. Bring in stories from your own childhood of what that transition to middle school was like. Use humor, so that you set up the expectation that yes this is a big leap.
