The top child safety tips in my mind are that, number one, children should always check with their parents so that both parent and child knows where the child is at any given time. Number two, children should always be outside with at least one other person, because we all know that there is strength in numbers. Number three, children should trust their instincts – in fact, we should all trust our instincts. If something feels wrong for a child, they should put distance between themselves and whatever it is that’s making them feel badly. And then they should realize that they can always go to a stranger in time of need or in time of threat. They can go to a woman, a mom with kids, other kids, they can go to emergency personnel in uniform. In a retail situation, they can go to a retail clerk or a security guard. And in fact, in the vast majority of cases children that are threatened can go to other men, because most men would do anything they could to help a child. Unfortunately though, men tend to be the problems. And then finally, I think that in this day and age, in the 21st century it makes a lot of sense for a lot of reasons for children, even as young as 7 and 8 years old to have their own telephone, so that they can have that constant connection with their parents and so that the GPS qualities of the telephone can be utilized as well.
