How do parents utilize Child Advocacy Centers? The Child Advocacy Center is an amazing concept. It's more of a law enforcement tool and a social services tool, than it is a parental tool. However, if your child has been molested, and that's been reported to Law Enforcement; you want to make sure, if possible, if there is a Child Advocacy Center in your area that can intervene on the child's behalf. Basically, what it does is get all of the players in law enforcement and the social services community together in one location, so they can have one interview with the child, one time; so the child does not have to be re-traumatized time and time and time again. Then the proper steps can be taken to get the child the medical help that they need, the psychological help that they need; and the law enforcement will move forward with any charges they want to bring against a perpetrator. While it's not really a parental tool, it is something that can benefit children in huge ways, if it's available in your community. The Child Advocacy Center should be available in every community in the United States.
