How many children are reported missing in the United States? Every day 2,183 children are reported missing throughout the United States. We need to be careful and break that down. The vast majority of those children are runaway children, followed by parent abductions. Followed by, children that are missing under unusual circumstances. Followed by -- and this is a very small percentage -- stranger abduction. Those are the most critical cases. Those are the children that are taken for long periods of time, usually sexually abused, and often times, murdered.

In the aftermath of the Oct 1, 1993 kidnapping and murder of his 12-year-old daughter Polly, Marc Klaas gave up his lucrative rental car franchise to pursue an aggressive child safety agenda. He also counsels and advises numerous victim families and families of kidnapped children.
