Why is stranger danger a myth? It's a myth because a vast majority of people that victimize children, are people that the children know. They are either family members or adults that have positioned themselves that gives them unsupervised access to children. What kind of strangers can help children? It's very simple. Almost any woman will help a child in need. Moms with kids are good people for children to go to, if they feel threatened. Other children will help children during difficult times. If they are in a retail situation, they can go to a store clerk or a security guard. They can go to any person who is in uniform, a policeman or a fireman. They can even, for the vast majority, go to men because most men would never hurt a kid, but unfortunately, men tend to be the problem.
