So the dangers of fructose and corn syrup, those are actually two separate questions because corn syrup is actually just another type of sugar, and it's slightly higher in fructose than other sugars, but it's really just another type of sugar that has a bit more fructose. Fructose is actually the problem. So, fructose is toxic to your liver. Another word for toxin is poison. It's poison to your liver, so one of the issues I have with all these "low glycemic" sweeteners, the darling daughters right now that are out there--I won't name them by name--but they're toxic to your liver. They don't actually spike blood sugar, which is why everybody loves them, but one of the reasons they don't spike blood sugar is they don't actually go into your bloodstream, they go straight to your liver to be detoxified like all poisons do. So, one thing I sometimes tell my clients when I'm coaching them is if you don't like your children, give them soda or sweetened fruit juice because it's really bad for them. It causes non-alcoholic fatty liver.
