Experiencing flow

Well, the short answer is that it feels wonderful but if you started to look at it from a more analytic psychological way, you find that the feeling that people report is that when they are in this condition, their attention is very focused, they concentrate very high, and because they concentrated so high, they forget all the problems they have. They get to the point of forgetting themselves and the time, they don’t notice that they are hungry or maybe even they are hurting – those things don’t register, because all you’re thinking about is what you’re doing. And because of that, you’ve entered this kind of state of – that’s why we call it flow – you feel that you’re moving by yourself, without thinking, without worrying and feeling control and you want to get back to that state. At the end of the experience, you said, “That was when I really felt alive. I felt better than in normal life and I want to go back, try to feel it again.” And so it becomes a motivator.
