The main benefits to belonging to an online parenting network is it makes a very large community a very small community. When you're a new mom and you're not sure what to do or something's normal or not, you can go online without even having to leave the comfort of your home, and ask questions from moms that have already been there and done that. So you get a lot of answers from moms with experience. And it's also nice to know that if something is abnormal, that there's someone telling you, "You should go to the doctor for this," or, "I've already been through it, don't worry about it." And it's also great because you can get recommendation from people in your area who would normally have not have met, so they can recommend their pediatrician or their local schools. And it's also a way to find nannies. A lot of parents whose kids are going to school, they have to let go of their nanny they've had for years. So it's always nice to get a recommendation from someone who has experience with a nanny than someone you have no experience with. So it's just a way of communicating with people in your area that wouldn't necessarily be able to talk to and meet.
