Setting boundaries for your children on how to interact with pets is really crucial to the safety of both your children and your pets. Teaching empathy at an early age is crucial. Animals have feelings. They get hungry. They get tired. They have painful situations. So they are just like humans, and they need to be treated like them. Teach your children at a young age, how to pet them gently, how to caress them, how to feed them, and not to pull their tails or pounce on them. We can't always predict their behavior, because they are animals, but sometimes recognizing subtle warning signs ahead of time and teaching them those signs, will help ensure the safety of your child and your pet.
