Greening your school

The best way to green your school is to just start. Whether it’s a simple recycling program, whether it’s talking about it with the kids, whether it’s sending them outside to play on the playground – all these elements start building a better, green school. But there are programs that are wonderful – United States Building Council for green Schools is a wonderful program; also, there is a Green Ribbon Schools program that’s just been started, equal sort of to the Blue Ribbon Schools program for academic achievement. Well, the Green Ribbon program is for environmental excellence, so that’s a wonderful program. And then, there’s a great website called Grades of Green, which can help you step by step sort of implement some of the more simple things. So my first advice is just do it – do something and then build on that.
