My Daughter was Killed by a Drunk Driver

My Daughter was Killed by a Drunk Driver

It is so dangerous to be in a car with a drunk driver. My own daughter, Alissa, was 15 years old when she was in the car with a driver who was drunk, and that was 20 years ago, and she was killed by that drunk driver. How I wish that 20 years ago, she had a cellphone and she could have called me to come and get her. So definitely, the most important thing for them to do is to find a safe ride home and call you right away.

Talk to Your Kids about the Effects of Drunk Driving

It's very important for parents to discuss possibilities that could happen with their children if their ride has been drinking. Whether it's a parent or a friend, we want to make very clear with our children that they are to call us right away. This is not a time to worry about how they will look to their friends because their safety is the most important thing.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced several new recommendations related to drunk driving, one of which is to pursue a national .05 BAC per se limit.
