My first rule of parenting, what I tell parents above all else, enjoy your children. It sounds so simple. But if you're doing that, if you're having fun with your kids, if you're enjoying them, number one you are certainly spending time with them, and you're spending time with them in a way that's mutually beneficial. If you're enjoying them, it's almost for sure you're doing it right, unless you're just smoking pot with them all day. But if you're having fun together in a way that makes sense, if you're looking forward to seeing one another, you're doing it right and you're instilling day after day, minute by minute, this magical power of connection. And guess what? Not only is it really good for your child, it's really good for you! Raising a child is one of the best things you can do for yourself! It keeps you young, it keeps you alive, and it's this wonderful, magical experience that is ought to be fraught with enjoyment.
