My daughter's 11-years old now, and she has some really great friends. She actually has an amazing social network of very, very tight friends, which is particularly wonderful to me because I know that a key form of Asperger's is having a hard time socially. And we worked so hard in her early years with the social skills classes to get her to a place where she could really interact with, not just alongside other kids. And she has some friends that she's been friends with her entire life and I think the beautiful thing is that they all know her as who she is; she wouldn't be anyone else. They know her as a quirky girl, a fun girl, a girl who gets a little excited and who's a little obsessive over strange things, and they all embrace her for who she is. And I feel really lucky. She has some amazing friends and I really think that was all due to social skills classes and us working with her from a very young age.
