Homeschooling and intercollegiate athletics – that’s a hot topic, because believe it or not, there is more than a million students in this country that are now homeschooled and a lot of those kids want to go on and play college athletics. The NCAA Eligibility Center has created a whole section for homeschool students, so that they can be sure that what they’re doing is meeting the Eligibility Center requirements. Frequently, homeschool students will have to list the titles of the books that they have read, that’s not something that regular students are required to do. But they also will have to get a letter from whoever is managing that homeschool curriculum attesting to the fact that the student was in a state approved homeschool program – it just wasn’t mom sitting around the kitchen table with books and giving their children a grades of A. So homeschool students are there, we’re dealing with them – there’s a million strong and lots of those kids want to play college sports, so they need to familiarize themselves with the Eligibility Center and the requirements.
