My name is Shepard Kopp, I am a criminal defense lawyer, and I have had the honor of practicing this noble occupation for about 18 years now. One of the questions that I get asked a lot is, 'How can you represent people whom you know are guilty?' I find that an interesting question, because it assumes that the system works all the time, but we know that it doesn't, and no one ever thinks to ask the question, 'Well what's it like to represent an innocent person?' I think it's the greatest job in the world and I've had the privilege of being able to represent innocent people throughout my career. When I am not practicing criminal defense, I like to spend time with my family. I'm married and I have a 13 year old daughter and a 10 year old son and when I'm not spending time with them - sometimes even when I am - I like to surf, I like to mountain-bike and be outdoors as much as I can.
