Maintaining energy throughout the day with toddlers. Well, first I would say use coffee, use Diet Coke. I mean, hey, that’s what works for me. But seriously, toddlers are exhausting. Right now in my life I’m home with my girls probably 60% of the time. 60% of the time I’m a stay-at-home mom. And then 40% of the time I’m a work-at-home mom. And when I’m a stay-at-home mom, I am more tired than any crazy day I might have at a job. Maintaining my energy is hard. And one of the mantras that I like to live by that I find is working for me is I pick one night a week to go to bed right after I put the girls to bed. I’m like 8-8:30. It’s almost ridiculous. But I will make a commitment and say, “tonight, I’m going to bed at 8:30.” And even if I just lay in my bed watching TV for a couple hours before I fall asleep, I find that that downtime early on, even if it’s once a week (twice a week if it’s really good) but even once a week works wonders. I also drink coffee throughout the day. So that was a joke, but it’s not really a joke. I have to have a cup of coffee in the morning. And then at 2 o’clock I have a little refresher, and I find that gets me through the afternoon.
