There are basically three parts to a working mom's life; her work, her family, and herself. This third part, herself, that also needs to be nurtured or the other two parts won't work as well. That's why you have to take time to relax, to exercise, to nurture friendships. If you don't, you will have a buildup of stress, anger, resentment, fatigue. All of these things can negatively affect your work and your family life. It's kind of like being on an airplane and in trouble. You have to put on your own oxygen mask first, then your child's. So find time during your day to exercise, maybe walk to work or hit the gym on your lunch hour. Schedule a Yoga class several times a week. Schedule girls nights out with your friends. Schedule yourself a pedicure with a foot massage. Anything you can do to feel relaxed, to de-stress, to feel nurtured, to have fun; just do it.
