Transcription:
Virtue and spirituality coincide in the parenting world in a sense of ideas and practice. How ideas relate to practice. So if the goal is developing a spiritual child, then the practices that we engage are the virtues. So we seek to incorporate in our every day family life habits that relate to virtues. If you want to cultivate more hope in your family, maybe you sit around the dinner table in the evening and you say, what were you grateful for today? What happened? And your child responds, I was really happy to be able to play with my friend Georgia today on the playground. Oh, that's great. What do you hope for tomorrow? What would be even bigger or better? The same thing could be said for engaging a sense of justice around your child. You want your child to have some awareness around human rights issues, so you might want to age appropriately take your child to a protest or read some stories in the newspaper and have conversations around this. What do you think is right? What does your heart tell you? How does this make you feel when you hear stories about how these people are treated or those people are treated? What do you think we do in our family? We want to extend ourselves in love to everyone.
