Postpartum physical therapy for a new mom can begin any time that woman and her physician say to go for treatment. It may be as early as two weeks, if there's pain issues. Under normal circumstances, a woman will go after their six week check up, after a vaginal delivery, to make sure their uterus is back to normal; and they are ready to begin a normal exercise regime or a program of therapy. In a woman that's had a c-section, typically, that will be an eight week visit. It's up to the woman and the physician to decide, if there's pain issues to come sooner; if there aren't pain issues, only strengthening issues, to come at the designated time, six and eight weeks.
