Transcription:
Couples who are seeking medical treatment for fertility should be aware of several things. The first thing is your obstetrician/gynecologist can be a good source for routine testing to determine if there’s any significant factor. If there is a significant factor, you want to seek care from a subspecialist, or what’s called reproductive endocrinologist and fertility subspecialist. There are several ways to find those individuals – national website listings in American Society for Reproductive Medicine can give you physicians who are board certified in your area. Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology is another website that lists these qualified individuals in the geographic area that you are in. Talking to your friends – women who have experienced infertility treatment – can give you clues as to the individual and how they do their practice, and so on and so forth. An infertility specialist is even more intensely involved and intimately involved with your care than your obstetrician, so you need to find somebody that you’re comfortable with, that has the knowledge and answers your questions and so you can go through treatment with the minimum of stress.
