Placenta encapsulation is growing in popularity in America. In many of the ancient cultures, after having a baby, the women would eat part of the placenta, either raw or mixed into a drink, and today it’s more palatable to dry it out, crush it up, and make it into capsules. The benefits of eating placenta seem to be the strongest indicator to your body that the pregnancy is over and postpartum recovery should start happening. The placenta is super-rich and concentrated in the nutrients it has and it also has the hormones that stimulate your body, that tell your body that the pregnancy is over. Our patients take placenta pills to help with postpartum blues and depression and to help overcome obstacles in milk production.
