To not like as being a parent to be patient with them and kind of let them catch along and tried to stay with them as much as you can, and even I tried to do that with my friends at school. You kind of going to get used to the friend and know them better and then once you know them really well, you get a bond. Being different is really special to me and I am happy to be this way because there are so many things that I won't be able to do if I wasn't different and I won't have as many friends, people come up and talk to me and so really, I love being different. The way that I like to be treated from being different is I like to be treated - I don't want to be treated like, "Oh, I'm so sorry for you. You have a different leg or you're missing three fingers or that and that…" I want to be treated normally. If I can do the things that normal kids can do, I'd like to be treated normal and my friends at school, they stand up for me for everything that I do. I will be walking around in a mall, a kid would ask like a question and I'd run up and go, "Oh, that's not nice. Don't talk to him like that." And they treat me like I'm a normal kid and that's what I really like about them.

Nine-year-old Ezra was born with a shorter left leg and only one finger on his left hand. When he was only two and a half years old, Ezra underwent extensive surgery to amputate his foot on the shorter leg and use one of his toes to create a second finger on his left hand. Now, Ezra uses a prosthetic leg to not just walk around, but to compete in sports including basketball, football, karate, and track and field.
