High fructose corn syrup in the media of great deal these days because sodas are formulated with high fructose corn sweetener and everybody is worried about fructose that actually table sugar sucrose is 50% fructose and high fructose corn sweetener can vary between 45% and 55% fructose. They are really quite equivalent in terms of the effect that they have and what studies show, it’s the dose that counts. You can have a little sugar and that’s okay, but if you have a lot of sugar esp. on a daily basis, that causes a problem esp. on the liver. There is evidence that too much sugar is associated with the development of a fatty liver disease, how does this happened? Take a look at a 12 ounce can and of soda, it has 150 calories in it that is 10 teaspoons of sugar, if you don’t know what that looks like, take the sugar bowl and the teaspoon and lay all 10 tsp into a clear glass and look at how much sugar that is and remember that’s just one can of soda. Many children drink 2 and 3 cans of soda in a day, that’s the important thing to keep in mind, is that soda which is nutrionally worthless and which represents nothing but extra calories that kids don’t need esp. if they live a sedentary lifestyle, sitting in front of the TV too much. That’s really what the problem is, soda and sugars of all types, look at your products, cereals, children cereals, all sort of products is formulated with all kinds of sugar and that’s we’re getting exposure to too much sugar
