The first dental visit should be by age 1. The general rule is, first birthday, first dental visit. That’s what’s recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics in addition to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. The reason for this is to form a preventative home. We want to go over growth and development with you, we want to make sure that the child’s teeth are developing properly. We also want to go over home oral hygiene instructions. And additionally, answer any of your questions or concerns regarding habits, nutrition or anything of that sort. We recommend that you come back every 6 months, same as for adults.
