So many parents will say to me, "Oh gosh. I dread going away on vacation or on holidays because the sleep is even worse. What can I do?" This is a great question because we all want to be able to go away and have a good time and still have our children sleep well at night. So the most important thing you can do is to make sure your child doesn't get sleep deprived while you are away because that will cause sleep problems. So if guys are away and your child falls asleep in the stroller on the beach, then just have the naps in the stroller and have your regular, early even when you are away. I would bring things to darken the rooms wherever you are staying. Have that good routine and that bedtime, so you don't completely regress. The other thing is if you have to have your child sleep in your room and your child doesn't normally sleep with you. Try not to go all the way back. Then you get home and get back on the wagon again; which makes it much harder.
