My first baby was born in the winter, during a blizzard, on the darkest day of the year. So I assumed that when I started to feel like I didn't want to eat, I was having trouble sleeping, I just chalked it up to the weather, and the darkness and just being sleep-deprived. But my husband was actually the first one to maybe suspect that there was more going on. Some of the symptoms that I was having, which I mentioned, I was very, very tired, but yet couldn't sleep, I didn't want to eat and I just felt very detached from my baby. He started to recognize those as maybe being more than just it being dark and cold outside. So he was the first one to recommend that I talk to my doctor. And once I shared with him very honestly how I was feeling and how I wasn't really connecting with Seth and I was rethinking if I should have ever even had a baby, my healthcare provider was able to get me the help I needed.

Monica Gregory is 30-something stay-at-home-mom whose journey to motherhood has been anything but smooth. Seven pregnancies, two chemical pregnancies, one twin miscarriage, one VBAC stillbirth, two C-sections, and a total of 11 months on bedrest don't make her an expert on pregnancy or parenting, but they do make her passionate about her role as mother. Before relocating from Ohio to Nashville, TN, for her husband's job, Monica was a commercial insurance agent. Today, she spends her days with Seth, three, Erin, one, and new baby James, sweeping up graham crackers, playing trains, blogging and cooking...all to the strains of Nick, Jr. in the background.
