Here are two of my favorite nuggets for parenting advice. The first is that one size does not fit all. No. What's right for this family unit might not be right here. There is no one right way to bring a baby into your life, whether you're birthing it in some way, or somebody else is birthing it for you; there is no one right way to feed your baby or to teach it how to sleep through the night. So please, watch out for fanaticism. Now, you're deciding as you go along, you're listening to various ways of doing things, but you're going to be choosing what is right for your family unit. The second nugget is that parenting, at least for human beings, is not instinctual. There are many different methods and techniques out there. So be kind with yourself, be gentle. Please, be compassionate with yourself. And certainly, you can go to a professional if you're motivated for some guidance or some help, but remember, that you're always doing the best you can and parenting is one giant, ongoing experiment. Keep your sense of humor.
