So I like to keep my house completely toxic- and chemical-free. And that sometimes poses an issue when you have a bug issue. This last summer we had a little problem with fleas because of a cat that we have. And I turned to a natural home remedy of using diatomaceous earth. And it actually works wonders. You can sprinkle that on the animal. You can sprinkle it in corners of the house. And for some reason it repels the fleas away. And it also is a good repellent for ants and other insects as well.
So one remedy that I used to use in the past was tea tree oil and lavender oil to repel insects. But it's recently been known, and some people still dispute this, that lavender oil and tea tree oil can be estrogen disrupters, and they can actually be not so wonderful for children to be around all the time. So that's something to look into and think about twice.
