Viral infections such as warts and molluscum are very common in children and teenagers. You should always see a dermatologist when you get one so that the dermatologist can determine actually what it is. There are two major mechanisms for treating viral infections such as lesions on the skin. The first is by using a cream to increase your body's immunity against the virus. The second thing to do is to actually destroy the skin that's containing the virus. This is done by either scraping, liquid nitrogen or special acid pads. The dermatologist will determine which is the better treatment option for your child, depending upon the location, size and number of the lesions that are present and they may use 1, 2 or 3 of these modalities. Before that though, it is important to remember that these are contagious, so keep them covered with a bandage at all times.
