You can be a strict and a supporting parent at the same time because I actually believe it’s the same thing. I mean, my daughter told us the other night that we are the strictest of all the parents, but yet it’s our house that her and her friends are always at and my son and his friends. By being strict and strict to me, I’ve always told them, “I'm not your friend. I'm your parent. Someday, I’ll be your friend but for now, my job is to teach you what you need to know, so you can go out into the world and be successful.” I feel like if they don’t understand rules and respect to other people, respect to themselves, and how to take responsibility for their actions. They’re not going to be successful in this world. I feel that by being strict and having rules and boundaries in our own home, sets them up so when they grow into the world, they know how to deal with the boss or how to deal in relationships. I feel that being strict, it is being supportive because we’re teaching them how to be successful people and they appreciate it. Also we are so open with them and we communicate with them, but like I said we are not their friends. I will be their friend someday, but right now not, I'm their mother and my job is to teach them. That’s what we are trying to do.
