The sex talk with the gay teen is going to be different that it is with the straight teen because obviously sex is different when you’re gay and when you’re straight. I think as a parent, you’ve kind of know when is the right time to talk to your child is for me, it wasn’t me who had the V-talk with them. It was explicit talk and they went into detail, but my son is ready for it and was asking for it. Since then, he was, trying to think how old he was at that time, probably around 12. He was young, but he did come out when he was 9. Since then, he asks a lot of questions. I get a lot of very explicit questions like can you get AIDS if you give a blowjob without a condom? I mean he just asks these things. I mean that question was on the other day in the car when he was with one of his girl friends. My husband and I were driving and that question just came from backseat of the car. He is very comfortable asking us anything and sometimes I even get a little uncomfortable, but I always try and give him the correct information and address the question. I always try to act like it’s no big deal that you just said that. I want to say, “Why you’re doing that?” I have to stop myself and just answer his questions, so that he will always keep coming to us when he has these types of questions.
