There are some good prevention tips that parents can use when it comes to child safety. The first one is don't equate stranger with danger. Teach your kids how to recognize what I call "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" in situations and other people's behavior. Another prevention tip, let your child know that they have the right to say "no" to any uncomfortable or yucky touch. They can say "no" to a grown up or to another person. They are the boss of their bodies. Another prevention tip, talk to your kids about good touch, bad touch, and confusing touch. Let them know there are certain parts of their body that nobody is allowed to touch. Another important prevention tip, let your child know that they should always trust their instincts and they can always come to you and tell you when something just doesn't feel right. Sometimes kids don't want to tell mom or dad because they think they are going to get in trouble. They are afraid that you might not believe them. Start the dialogue and conversations when they are young and let them know, "I've got your back, no matter what. If something doesn't feel right, we are here and we are going to help you out."
