My wife and I started the charity organization Friends of Maddie, which is an organization that helps families of babies in the NICU, because we had our own experience with a premature baby who was in the NICU. Our first child, Madeline, she was born at 28 weeks, 6 days and she spent 68 days in the NICU. She had underdeveloped lungs and she went home with us. And she was a beautiful child, always had a great smile and always such a pleasant, wonderful little girl. We had a wonderful 17 months with her but unfortunately she got a respiratory illness when she was 17 months old. And because she originally had compromised lungs, she ended up passing away as a result of the respiratory illness at 17 months old. So we had this horrible thing happen to us and we decided what we would do is start an organization in her honor. That´s why it is called Friends of Maddie. And all the kids in NICUs around America are her friends we say. And so we started this organization to help people like ourselves and that is the goal of Friends of Maddie, to help families who are going through what we went through with Madeline.
