Yapha Mason has been a school librarian for over 20 years. She received her Master’s Degree in Library Science from UCLA and is the founding (and current) lower school librarian at Brentwood School in west Los Angeles. She has also worked at school libraries in Texas and Massachusetts. Yapha served on the 1999 and 2015 Newbery Medal Committees and the 2007 Laura Ingalls Wilder Award Committee. She is currently Chair of the Independent School Section of the American Association of School Librarians. She lives with her husband, daughter, and two large dogs in Simi Valley, CA.
