Becoming a mom soon.

Posted November 10, 2016 - 2:13am

Hey all! I've been in a relationship for almost 6 years now and we have finally decided to get married. But, the guy I'm marrying has a 11 year old son, and with the very few times I've met him, I felt that he doesn't like me very much. I'm getting married next month and after the wedding they will be shifting here to Calgary, to my place. I'm however, in midst of getting good mortgage rates as I'm planning to purchase a bigger house. I'm also getting his room done in a way he would like it. Just trying my best to get close, but I really don't know on how things would be when they finally shift in here. I know nothing about being a parent and becoming a parent of a 11 year old, all of a sudden, is gonna be really tough. Please advice me as to what I can do. How can I at least try being a good parent. A good mom actually. I also have heard that he misses his mom a lot and they were really attached. I know I can never take that place, but I just want him to know that I'll be there for him as his mom would.

As the boy is 11 years old, it will be hard for him to accept you as a mother, as he misses his mom very badly. Don't get panic. Things will get well soon as time goes on. Definitely, you can be a mother to him. Try to feel free with him and talk with him always. Don't be so frustrated that he is not talking to you or mingling with you on the first few days. But things will definitely get well.
