Clutter

Are you a pack rat or a minimalist. Do you struggle to keep ahead of piles or are you just naturally neat and organized?

I am definitely not a minimalist.  I know I need to get rid of quite a few things in the house.  Organization is a struggle in our house.  It seems my island keeps getting messed up with kids papers and the like.

I am a total clutter person! In fact I have a saying posted by my closet door that says, "Control your clutter, or it will control you!" It is something I work hard at. The worst area for me is paperwork - bills, report cards, doctors orders, magazines, etc. Help!

OMG the clutter! I don't intend to have it, but I do. I hate it! Now that both my kids are in school full time maybe I can tackle it. I would love to be a minimalist.

I tend to function best among the clutter. My husband is a minimalist and there have been times I have come home and he has straight up thrown crap out. I think there are other priorities than decluttering...he can't relax if things are out of place.

Haha we look like we are all birds of a feather when it comes to clutter. I love those people that are just so neat and organized with everything. However with a bunch of kids, working from home, busy lives, a husband who is a pack rat...easier said than done. Oh the constant fight to rise above the piles. LOL

I aspire to be an organized person, but usually wind up with clutter around. It varies. I go thru fits where I throw everything out, sometimes things I shouldn't have.

beachcitymom

ugh! I have too much clutter but I am working on that! We are planning to do a move at the end of the year and all this clutter is not going with me..lol.

MommyUnwired

I tend to get attached with things that is why there is a lot of clutter in our house.  Trying to streamline.  Just don't know where to start lol

Mommy Ramblings

Seems to be very common here. LOL Has anyone ever tried using a program or coach like Peter Walsh to curb the clutter?

I am neither a minimalist or a packrat though at the moment it feels like the latter.  My kids go back to school next week and that means time for me to get organized!  The football team is doing a textiles drive so I've been going through the kids clothes and making room for their new school clothes.  Next I'll be working on all the piles of STUFF that have accumulated over the summer!  It's driving me nuts!

CandyOvercaffed

I was so naive... I had this grand plan to clean out my closet and my office when the kids were home this summer. Because we didn't have to go anywhere. hahahahaha... never happenend.

Haha Candy. Been there.

Ha! Glad I'm not alone!

For me I find that it's so much easier when they are not home! I can't get rid of anything when they are around!  I had a box of clothes moved into the garage to donate and my youngest found it and started wearing stuff out of the box — stuff that was 2-3 sizes too small!  At first I didn't realize where it was coming from because some of it still actually fit her!Whenever I'm busy doing something they are busy UN-doing something ;)

CandyOvercaffed

Yes they are masters of UNdoing! I've actually finished some tasks since they've been in school. I don't even know who I am anymore!

I actually can get more things done when they are home since they keep the 3 year old entertained.  Yes the rest of the house might be a mess, but I can at least dedicate myself to one room.
