I try to stick to once a week but if I don't have a very good menu plan I end up at the store several times a week. I've never been able to do a two week plan. What about you?
There is no way I could every two weeks. I'm not organized enough. I go weekly and *usually* get everything, but sometimes I have to go back or I've planned poorly. I don't enjoy it at all so I really try to keep it to once a week.
We are once a week with a rotating menu.
I try to do every other week but usually it ends up once a week. It is usually a bigger shopping once every two weeks and a small shopping once the second week.
I usually shop once a week, but at two different stores. At my local grocery store, I buy the sale items and then use Aldi to supplement my pantry. I base what we eat on either what's in my stockpile/freezer or what I pick up that week. I don't meal plan per se, but don't custom shop for recipes either.
We alternate shopping between Trader Joe's and Sam's Club. We try to keep that to once a week, but sometimes they overlap.
Just have to say today is my grocery store day and I am so unprepared. I just dislike this task so, so much.
Ha! I hear you Candy...it was so much more enjoyable/easy before everything had to be purchased in bulk ;-)
Me too! I went yesterday. I tried to decide what to make for dinners this week first but wasn't feeling inspired at all so decided to wing it. Luckily, I only had one child with me and she decided she wanted to go to playland (one hour of free childcare in the grocery store!) so it worked out well. More simple, boring meals this week.... my kids are too picky!
I actually love to go grocery shopping. I tell my kids that I should become a professional grocery shopper.
We (or I should say, I, because I try to ALWAYS go by myself) also do once a week. My go-to place is Trader Joe's, but at least once a month I also make a stop either at Costco or Big Lots for paper products.
I try to do Costco once a month, too. I'm finding now that I am packing two lunches a day, our grocery bill has gone up! Makes sense, I just didn't think I was buying that much more. Guess I was wrong!
I'd hire you @Frugal! We also do Costco about once a month — mostly just for snacks/lunch items. We also buy our chicken there.
