In Laws

Posted August 27, 2015 - 4:09pm

How is your in-law situation and I mean not just parents but siblings. Is there a lot of tension that you have with any of them. Is everything smooth sailing. Have you ever had any really bad issues with them?

My in-laws don't live particularly close (I live in San Diego, they're in Dallas) so we don't get up there very often, so there are very few issues.  The times that have arisen just come from a mistaking of what one can do in each other's house.  When I first got married and we went to their house, her dad wasn't the best at making me feel like I was allowed in their home.  But that coldness has thawed out over the years and now I feel just as at home there as I would in my parents house. And my wife has a younger sister who is nothing but sweet to me and my children. Are you having trouble with your in-laws?

I am fortunate in that I actually get along with my sister and brother in laws better than my own brother.  Good thing too since my husband is 1 of 10.  As far as Mother in Law I love her very much and consider myself very fortunate, but occasionally have a run-in due to how she was brought up.  Men always came first and she would insist on them getting food by themselves leaving the women all alone with the kids.  Very hard when you have little ones and then you never get to set with your spouse for holiday dinners.

Both of my ex-husbands parents had passed away before I married him so I never got to have in-laws. I love my brothers wives though, so I have been fortunate in that area! I understand that in-law troubles can be quite a hurdle to overcome!

I am fortunate to have married into a wonderful family. I enjoy the conversations. My one brother in law is my age, so we have a lot in common. I have a younger brother in law whom is a year older than my oldest child and I love learning from him. They each have amazing wife/girlfriends. I wish we all could get together more often.

I actually am quite fortunate that I get along really well with my mother-in-law.:) We always have been friends. Now..my sis-in-law is a different story. I often have felt she is trying to compete with me or make me feel inferior. Only one sis in law. My other inlaws I don't see often but there is not much tension.

My husband's parents were deceased before we met. I get along great with his 3 sisters and their husbands. He has 4 half siblings who are another story and who he can barely tolerate. Luckily we do not live close and they don't even get along with themselves so...you can imagine.

Ha, don't even get me started on my ex-inlaws. Let's just say now I can see how their kid turned out the way he did. They loathe me behind my back, but kiss up to my face. blah.

Wow Justamom that is tough. What do they say fear not the enemy who wants to attack you but fear the false friend who hugs you. Something like that but you get my drift.

Guess that it is a good thing that they are ex-inlaws. ;) Sounds like not a good thing at all.

I was extremely lucky with the family I married into.  I love my in-laws including my hubby's sisters and brothers.  I've never had any issues with them and feel very blessed!
