Teens safety

Posted December 15, 2016 - 1:44am

Hi all, I am a newbie here. It’s awesome that I could find a forum to discuss all my kids matters. Actually they are not kids, one is 14 and other is 10. I stay with my mother and children. My husband is working in US. After 2 weeks I have to go London as a part of a project in my office. I am really sad and stressed up thinking about my mom and children. I really don’t wish to go. But I cannot avoid it as well. Recently all news are about harassment and molestation towards teenagers. I think, teenage is one of the most important period, which parents have to really care about. How can I ensure their safety? We don’t have any security systems or CCTV. We have planned to get one and I happened to read a blog suggesting safety measures for teenagers. [ http://www.calgaryalarm.com/blog/teens-safety/4-ways-to-keep-your-teens-... ] It says about not to schedule any maintenance on that day, make a neighbor or family member have an eye on your home etc. I still don’t feel my home secure. Have you guys had to experience this situation? Can anyone help me suggesting some good methods?

Thank you annejcolson. It's a really helpful advice. Teens are the group who deserves special attention.
