Thinking about homeschooling

Posted March 8, 2018 - 11:50pm

Hi!
I'm a mother of two and the older one is turning 5 now. Since legally children in Australia between the ages of 6 to 17 must be in school or registered to homeschool, and we are planning to move to Canada in two years I think that I could homeschooling my kid until we move. I'm not so sure, but I think that the transition would be easier if there isn't a class that she has to say goodbye to... What do you think about that?
As a writer and a part-time teacher, I think I could give my kid a quality education. The thing that's also bothering me is the "classroom". I've found some useful articles that helped me, as this one http://www.freehomeschooldeals.com/the-massive-list-of-homeschool-room-o... but I would like to hear experiences from you guys. If there's any :)

In addition to my previous post, I would like to hear your opinions on this idea of mine: I could divide my home office and turn it into a classroom (partly). My office is not fancy but the one thing that saves me from a total mess is my labels (I'm using Rhino label tapes) and my storage skills. I'm thinking to add one more desk and use labels for sorting school and office supplies. My kid is very curious and playful so our workspace could work out :)

Hi there, I think dividing the home office and turning the other half in a classroom is a great idea. It would give your kid a chance to learn while you work. Great idea! :)I've heard about those labels, my sister uses them on a daily basis and she says they are great. Keep up the good work! :)

If you're thinking about homeschool, I have been using a bunch of educational apps that keep my kids engaged and also provide a little fun during the day! For English learning, we are using an app called Eduka's World, and they are loving it and best of all the whole app is completely free! Here is a link in case you want to check it out! https://bit.ly/3l5hB8v

It's an interesting question. We have the same system, but my eldest son is now studying at the official school at home. He likes that there the study is interactive, takes less time than a real school, and he studies what he is interested in. We have organized a work area and a separate computer and tablet on which all his books are downloaded, we don't print anything. Son has his own schedule, time for lunch and breaks, and we have a garden where he works with his father. We try to move more. I hope this will help you.
