Transcription:
When you choose to have a home birth, the midwife is really there for you and your family. She gets to know the whole family environment before the baby even comes. She comes to your house and knows where you want to give birth. She sets up the space where you intend to give birth, with you. And she makes sure your kids are taken care of, if you have other children and typically once you go into labor, the midwife will come to your house and assess your progress. If you're in active labor she will stay with you the whole time, and up to three hours after the birth to make sure everything is okay. In that time, no matter how long it takes, she's at your home making sure you're comfortable, making sure you're safe; assessing you very frequently to make sure your vital signs are stable and the baby's heartbeat is good. You have somebody there with you very hands-on.
