The qualities of a great coach I think have kind of gotten lost in the shuffle of the modern day, focus on winning and championship coaches. A lot of people think that a great coach is someone who knows all the X's and O's. But I've done a ton of research in this area and I've asked thousands of coaches what they think are the five best qualities of the best coach that they ever had, and then number one answer by far more than double any other answer is he or she cared about me. They cared about me as a person. I wasn't just a pair of hands or pair of feet, I was a heart and I was a mind. I think this is the best advice that every coach really needs to know that you don't coach a sport, you coach a child, you coach a person. And when you do that and when you form that authentic bond with each and every player, they will play harder, they will play longer, and they will play better for you. So, when people ask me what's the best quality of a coach, just care about your kids.
