The best thing that a parent can say to their kids after a game is really five simple words and that’s I love watching you play. Now, I learned this about decade ago from a great friend and mentor of mine named Coach Bruce Brown. It totally change the way that I was as a coach and I was as a father because when you tell your kids after they play that I just love watching you play, what you do is you free them from the burden of being responsible for your happiness as a parent and basically your love for them is not conditional upon their performance in sports or the outcome of the game. And when you say that to your kids, you will see a joy on their face and just a relaxation that they just get to go out and be a kid and just play the game.
