How to empower kids to report bullying

It's really important to empower kids to do what's right when they see bullying situations. But here's the problem, most kids are afraid to step up and do what's right because they are afraid they are going to be called the tattle-tail. And kids won't want to be called the tattle-tail so they stay away from doing anything. Tattling though is when we get someone in trouble who shouldn't be in trouble. We just try to get them in trouble to make a fuss to get someone else to notice them. But reporting is when we get someone who is in danger or feeling unsafe into safety. We want to encourage reporting, which means that kids use their empathy to see someone who is really having a problem, and then you see that, you see that queue and you say I am going to help that child. That's what we want to teach our kids. If they know that inside and they do the right thing, it will make everyone feel better and we can really start eradicating bullying
