The books that I would recommend for parents, the one that every parent needs to read who's walking into this stage of development with their son or daughter, is a book called "Sex and Sensibility" by Deborah Roffman, is the bible in regards to this. the subtitle is "Talking Sense to Your Kids About Sex." It will tell you why we need to do this, why our country is one of few that do not offer uniform sexuality education in our schools and the detriment to our kids in terms of the sexual transmitted disease, abortion rates and pregnancy rates in our country compared to these countries-- Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Japan-- where these kids are being taught sex education in the schools. They're delaying first intercourse up to two years, and that's a significant amount of time when you're 14-years old. The other books that I would recommend are for kids, and to go into their bedroom. And I promise you they'll get read. There's one that's put out by the American Medical Association called "What Do Teens Need to Know?" There's another book called "What's Going On Down There?" There's one for boys and for girls, and it's a perfect book. Stick it in their bedroom; I promise you it will get read. If in fact there are no other siblings around the house, leave it out; I promise you that book will get moved.
