There are huge benefits to considering adopting an older foster child as opposed to a younger foster child. For example, older children often are much more aware of there feelings and in touch with there actions and the connections between them. You can talk to them. You can get them to open up and their brains are cognitively much more sophisticated so the opportunities for working with them and the number of interventions you can use when there is trauma involved is much much greater with an older child.
