Best tips for juggling career and motherhood

My biggest tips for balancing career and motherhood are actually what are being taught to my third grader right now in school: time management. That's why they give them homework so they learn time management. And I think it is the most essential skill for finding balance in your life; creating balance. You can't find it, you actually have to create it. So most days I wake up and I make a list. It's so simple; I just make a list. This is what I need to do today. And I make sure that one thing on that list is just for me. And whether that's 45 minutes working out or 45 minutes of writing, I like to give myself an hour. But I also list all those errands that need to be done. Because it's interesting, once I became a mother, there were just too many thoughts in my head, too many things that I had to keep track of. But once I put them on paper, I could look at them on the piece of paper and say, "Okay, I want to do this, this and this," and some days I don't get to everything on the list. But it gives me a map for the day. And without that, it's too easy to get pulled here and pulled there and also just kind of stare at the wall when you're really tired. But a list keeps me on track. I think that's my biggest advice. And caffeine.
