In my family, we have two kids. My first daughter has multiple food allergies and my young daughter doesn't.
Life in our household can be very different because my first daughter has so many food allergies. She's allergic to wheat, dairy, fish, shellfish, nuts, tree nuts, and sesame. We can't really make out household free of all of those allergens, but we have chosen to make our house a nut free house. The reason why is that peanuts are the highest anaphylactic food product out there, and we want our house to be a safe environment for our family.
Our youngest daughter, who does not have food allergies, we are teaching her how to keep her older sister safe. That means not sharing her food if she is having something like cow's milk, which her older sister can't have. Not sharing her spoon if she wants to have a little dip of her sister's soy yogurt. It's about education and we've just chosen to keep our house a nut free house.
