I think one of the best ways to talk with schools or insure my daughter's safety it to be prepared. Go in knowing that who are the key players at your child's school. For example, what I've done is I've met with the principal, the school nurse, and the teacher before school starts. That doesn't mean the day of school, it means the week or semester before schools starts. Knowing what their policy is, I make sure the school office, as well as the classroom has her medication. I've worked alongside the nurse to train how to administer an epi pen, what my daughter's allergic reactions look like, and also, how it can be. Ideally, the best thing you can do to insure their safety is be prepared, know that you are the best advocate and what you do can insure your child's safety in school.
